My Avocet pickup unit won't fit on the massive dropouts on my C'dale cross fork. The spoke-mounted magnet on a Sigma I tried is much too far from the sending unit on the inside of the fork blade. Any suggestions as to what might work? Not doing any cyclocross so I don't have to worry about exposed wires, etc., but I do like neatness.

I'm confused about the dropout issue. If you have a typical wheel with the flange width being around 37mm from center, then you should be able to get a spoke magnet near the hub and a sensor near the hub. Most forks I know of won't allow both a spoke magnet and a sensor to fit just above the dropout because they'll hit.
Do you have a picture of your setup? I can't visualize it.

I'm not the OP, but I had problems mounting an Avocet cyclometer, too. The sensor is designed to clip onto a standard fork end which is what, about 3mm thick? And, the transmitter ring mounts onto the outside of the hub flange. This set-up worked well enough with my old steel forks, but when I switched to a LOOK carbon fork, there wasn't enough clearance between mu Dura Ace front hub flange and the fork end. I had to abandon the whole set-up and switch to a cyclometer with a fork blade-mounted pickup and a spoke-mounted transmitter magnet.
Avocet makes an adapter to mount the pick-up on the fork leg. It mounts w/ a couple of zip ties. It looks like it would fit any diameter fork. I believe it is still available. Andy "Mike Krueger" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:[email hidden]...
