Didn't put a cadence computer on my roadbike when I got it figuring that 6
months of working on spinning up and cadence on the old bike gave me a good
enough idea of the 'right' cadence. It's not good to become a slave to the
computer. (ri-i-ight!)
When my regular handlebar computer quit working in the middle of this past
weekend's long ride, I figured I'd just go ahead and get another one with
cadence - redundancy would be the primary reason, though. (uh-huh)
So-o-o, come to find out I'm drudging along at 70-75, and even though my
rides are empirically better than last month in distance and time, I feel
now like I'm riding through quicksand, lol.
Ignorance was bliss.
Today, I had the new computer set to read average speed and cadence, the
old one to show time and mph. Though I'm feeling a bit leaden from the
weekend's hard ride and climbing it looks like I'm on track to set a new
record for the course. So I crank it up and call for Scottie to channel all
the impulse power to the warp nacelles. ;-D
Turns out the new computer is reading higher avg speed than the old one,
and instead of being 0.7mph faster, I was actually 0.3mph slower. That's
the pits, because seeing the new speed made me really push it to the end.
Arrrrgh! ;-)
So now I'm confused -and- tired. (I need a nap) Z-z-z-z-z...
