  1. For those who use CyclingPeaks, I'm wondering if I'm missing something. It has nice custom charts, but I had expected it would have something like a calendar to track total miles/hours. That seems like the most basic thing of all -- tracking training volume.

    Am I just dense?

    Thx.

CyclingPeaks tracks miles and hours, although they are not as relevant for tracking your training loads as TSS, which is introduced in CyclingPeaks by Dr. Cogan. The calendar is in a different format. CyclingPeaks recently partnered with Training Bible to form Training Peaks.com. This may have a calendar, and workout formats more in the line of what you were looking for. Check out the forum on CyclingPeaks. This should answer some of your questions, and give you hints into future changes which Hunter is working on for the next edition.

Back to your question regarding Training volume. Do some research, via links in CyclingPeaks to Dr. Cogan's development of TSS. This is a much more sophisticated tool for monitoring training load, i.e., volume and intensity.

Also, the Mean Maximal chart can delivers over a period of time a record of best efforts, which is invaluable to coaches or yourself for profiling your strengths and weaknesses. This allows a more scientific approach into developing a training plan suited to your abilities and goals. It also gives you instant updates whenever you make progress and set new personal bests.

At first I was a bit puzzled by it. But within a week I was amazed at the information that was available, much of which I didn't know enough to even ask for.

Your not dense. There are just answers being presented here that 90% of the cyclist have not yet thought to ask for. Welcome to Wonderland.

You can use the custom periodic chart to create a graph that will show you your distance and/or duration (hrs) in whatever time period you choose to summarise the data into. I have mine set to show me my volume weekly.

I made a custom chart which shows weekly hours, miles, TSS and IF for the season. I find that the most useful chart. Total miles etc. is really fred stuff just for bragging.

I'm really looking forward to when they implement the rolling TSS feature into CPS - that will be the bomb.
