Kroner's piece on Iban Mayo's outlook on this season was quite
enlightening. I trust that anyone who can read what I'm writing has
probably already looked over it; what do you think? It seems like
highly unconventional thinking for this day and age. I get the feeling
that with their ProTour status guaranteed for four years, they don't
feel like they have to "make it" any longer. There's no pressure from
the management to scrap and scratch for small prizes or do something
outrageous to put the team on the map - they're already on the map.
Instead, that drive is coming straight from the riders' personal ambitions.

Anyway, speaking of pressure from the management, The T-Mobile roster
for the Tour is almost what I expected, but they left Francisco "Paco"
Lara off the list in favor of Stephen Schreck. I thought he was
considered a shoo-in, and he's in good form. Schreck is so-so - it
seems to me like he was barely hanging on at the TdS, and he pulled out
before the last stage. But I may be wrong, and Ullrich might have been
impressed with what he saw. C'est la vie. CN says they'll do a full
report on the roster announcement so I'll wait and see what they have to
say.
