[font=Arial]With all this great weather we’ve been getting in some good rides around Sydney and I’ve noticed a good looking track along the M7. So what is the track like – bear in mind I’m only a weekend trundler (nobody wants to see me in lycra)? Also, I’m from the inner city and have no idea how to easily cycle on to the M7 track. What are the closest train stations, especially on the southern end?[/font]
Definately some good weather lately it is hardly winter like during the daytime. The M7 is a pretty easy ride as it pretty much off the road from cars etc.(the serious roadies ride alongside on the motorway with the traffic I geuss to avoid zigzaging under and over the passes) The track is pretty gentle most the way with some undulating hills. Its a nicer ride in winter day as it is mainly open the heat is a bit more intense in summer. You can pick your pace and choose to go up to 80kms as a return ride from end to end. It's not a bad ride in the evening in summer as it is lit up all the way (with occasional section blacked out)
The pamphlet for the M7 bike track should cover everything. There tend be be alot of walkers and families out mid morning on the northern end. have fun!
The times I've casually ridden it with friends I've met up with them at Seven Hills station. Go over the bridge to get to the other side of the station. You can then ride up Prospect Highway to Abbott Road. There's an entrance to the cycleway just under the bridge/overpass.
