I live in Jersey, and am headed over to Walton, KY for some family stuff. Figured since I am down there might as well go riding. Any idea of terrain, climb percentages, good riding areas over there.... Anything at all would be great.
Walton is just south of Covington, which is just across the river from Cincinnati. It is pretty flat in that part of the state, except for right along the Ohio River. It has been years since I hve been to that part of the state, so I do not know what the cycling conditions are.
I used to live in Kentucky when I was kid. I lived in louisville, which I imagine will be alot like Covington/Walton/Cincinnati area. Yes, the area immediately surrounding the Ohio River is very flat, but the Ohio is a River valley. I belive once you get about 50-60 miles away from the river things will start to get hilly. Almost all of Kentucky is hilly and green and very beautifull.
As for Weather, This is Fall time, so its a extra treat to see all those hills colored in yellow and Red. Also, the fall has the best weather for Kentucky as I remember. The Winter/Spring time is grey and yucky and usually full of snow/sleet/rain. The summer is extremely hot and muggy, especially down in the valley. The fall is the best time for Riding.
I don't know what road conditions are like in that area though. Sorry, I never went to that area myself.
