Back in April I started a topic
asking for suggestions and tips about cycling from the UK to Romania.
Well... I left Buckland Newton in Dorset on July 23rd 2006 and on 19th
August 2006 I found myself in Craiova, Romania up against 38oC
temperatures and a chest infection. So decided to take a train for the
last bit of Danubian scrub land to Bucharest.

The route I took was as follows (places are where I stopped for the

Buckland Newton (GB) --> Portsmouth (GB) / Le Havre (F) --> Rouen -->
Meru --> Chateau Thierry --> St. Dizier --> Nancy --> Colmar -->
Donaueschingen (D) (and Danube bike path to Vienna) --> Erbach -->
Ingolstadt --> Deggendorf --> Linz (A) --> Krems --> Hegyleshalom (H)
--> Veszprem --> Mohacs --> Novi Sad (SCG) --> Belgrade (where I
stopped for a week's rest - beautiful city) --> Golubac --> Strehaia
(RO) --> Craiova (where I would have continued towards Alexandria and
then headed N to Bucharest).
