From the pic it looks as if it would prevent rain from running into the shoetop of our more sedate
cyclists plus it does away with the need for cycle clips. www.ferndale-lodge.co.uk Telegraph

I've been using a pair of Peter Storm walking gaiters (£9.99 from Millets) on the bike for years.
They stop grease getting on my trousers from the chain and chainrings, and they stop my trousers
fouling up the pedals and chainring, just like cycle clips. They don't help all that much in the
rain (though they're better than nothing) because the rain runs down inside the gaiter; they do,
however, prevent splashes from puddles from wetting my shoes.

    Now sold - £8.99 instead of Wiggle's £13.49 - wasn't too bad.
