We haven't had any major fires near where I ride, but there certainly have
been some. One of the favorite trails is in an area called the "Tillamook
Burn" because of a huge wildfire many decades ago. There are huge
clearcuts, and they just get very brushy, and dusty in late summer.
They're pretty "somber" to ride through as well.

Cool (Cuyamaca's back -- looks HOT though!), and wow (the cat).

When I was a high school hotrodder I had a cat run out in the street right
under my car (beloved '68 Charger R/T with a 440/4 brl. TYVM. Sigh.).
Thought for sure the poor thing was dead or on the way. Took it to its
owners house wrapped in a blanket and went to school. Stopped by that
afternoon and the cat was perfectly fine! Amazing.

Still, your "tail" is freaking unbelievable; hard to believe it could
survive all that.

It was not particularly brushy before, I imagine the trees blocked off
the direct sun that the bushes like.
