  1. I was thinking of getting a custom steel frame built.

I've heard that the ride and comfort level is unbelievable, even better apparently than carbon fibre. Therefore in theory you can race longer and go faster dispite the slightly heavier bike.

Anyone out there had an Australian custom frame built? If so, who made your frame and are you happy with it?

  2. I have a couple of pretty old Paconi frames, but they're no better than my
    factory steel frames.

Custom frames are a bit on the expensive side these days

Steel will generally be the most comfortable material, but I have one aluminium frame which is more comfortable than one of my old steel frames!!

Before you spend big money, I recommend getting a 2nd hand Reynolds 531 steel frame to see what steel can feel like. You should be able to get one for under $200
