  1. I was just wondering about insurance on bikes. My bike is already insured, so this question leans
toward curiousity more than anything else. I have come across insurance companies that advertise
vehicle insurance and considering that we as cyclists class our bikes as vehicles do you reckon
these companies would be obligated to give us a quote.

Just a curious question started between a few bike buddies at work.

No they aren't. A company can choose what it insures and choose what it doesn't insure.

Not obligated by the Personal Investment Authority, but what about the ASA? If they advertise
vehicle insurance but only provide car insurance, then that's not correct advertising. I doubt it's
an infringment of advertising regulations, though

No. A company can insure what it wants to.

I understood that. (Although it has to insure its motor vehicles, the general public using its
    facilities, etc.)

Whether an advertisement is misleading is another matter entirely.

Yes, but if it's said it will in an advert, then in some sense it's obliged to quote, even if it's
obliged to by the ASA, not the PIA. There'd a punishment either way, so arguably it's an obligation.
    That said, the ASA is

Anyway, back to the OP, I think that it'd be easier to complain direct to the company about their
advertising, rather than one of their telesales reps.
