With Cunego foregoing the TDF due to health reasons, will Lampre-Caffita put Simoni in his place? I believe Simoni has won a small race in Italy since the Giro, but I don't know if he's been training for another grand tour.
Even without adequate preparation, is it likely that Lampre-Caffita will make in ride the tour to at least have some presensce in the tour? Granted he won't win the tour but if fortune is with him, he might pull off a stage win in the mountains or vie for the king of the mountain jersey.

I've been saying for a while that Simoni will probably come and try to compete for polka dots - you could already see him doing it last year, following Virenque on several long breakaways and (IIRC) snatching the prize for the highest mountain of the '04 TdF.
