CRP Tests: What's The Latest Info. On ?

    What's the latest re the CRP testd ? Have heard so many
    contrdictory things regarding its usefulness.

    Is this something I should really push my PCP to have done ?

    On Zestril and Lipitor now, and average about 135 over 75
    blood pressure. Am 68 yrs of age.

    There is debate about CRP. However, your 135 systolic bp
    seems a bit high - if you could achieve 120 it may be
    helpful. Check out BP recs on the web. Re: CRP "The test is
    not recommended for general screenings. Doctors say it's
    most useful for patients at moderate risk for
    cardiovascular disease.

    "It does have some prognostic value," said Dr. Nicholas Di
    Domenico, an internist at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in
    Van Nuys. "The problem is the test is not specific and (CRP
    levels) could be raised by other diseases. The CRP can be
