Has anyone got any experience good or bad of Creatine use?
I have read some slightly contradictory information about when to use, I.E. before training or as a recovery drink.
I used it a few years ago. You have to go into a loading phase for some time, mixing the dose with apple juice or water. Your weight may go up due to water retention. I only found it useful for short bursts of energy such as climbing hills when it seemed to give you more muscle torque, but it does nothing for your cardio system. It's probably only any real use for weightlifters and body builders who want to build muscle mass.

Andrew,
Creatin is of no use in continuous exercise, mostly it is a volumiser as above and works by retaining water in the muscle. Research among runners showed it inhibited performance and increased recovery times. There are a few differing types of Creatin and many theories on how it can best be used. My preference was for a one drink loading an hour before exercise followed by a half loading with protines after. Liquid creatins are the most readily absorbed and give the best results per gram as powder bases tend not to be absorbed fully. I would tend to agree with the previous poster in that the use of creatin in cycling is not going to bring any benefits to you and cost you dearly for the experience. I would suggest, if you want to build muscle and endurance purchasing powdered whey protines and having a milkshake within 2 to 5 minutes of exercise. Time is important as you want the protine to be targeted to the muscle group you are exercising.
