I was bored in my engish class today. I had a thought... replace the chain system with a drive line system. I wonder if this would be a more effective solution. Any thoughts???

There is everything "efficient" about chain drive. The working portion, the portion that PULLS,
is a direct pull, there is no mechanical loss factor as there is with the "grind" of bevel gear faces,
a-la- 1898 (yes, "drive line" has been done that long ago already).Even though chain gets dirty and it wears out (in derailleur systems),
at basis, it is nearly perfect as a power transmission device.Think about it: a direct pull, across the span of one (gear tooth) purchase,
to a distant-other.
