XT is very popular and easy to install. Don't know about Ritchey.

  3. The XT crank is almost certainly the best value for money. It's very light, very stiff, and the cogs change gear better than anyone elses.
Don't know about Ritchey anymore, although you could consider the Race Face Prodigy which should be a similar price to the XT one and comes in spangly colours! 🙂

  4. One more thing though, be carefull about which crank will fit your bottom bracket. The XT one is now only available in Shimano's octalink splined format, whereas the Race Face is ISIS splined and won't fit the same BB. Worth noting if you're going to buy and fit yourself, rather than go to a bike shop 🙂
