  1. The other day I was out on a group ride. After about 1:30 of riding, I started getting cramps in my right calf. It was terrible. On the downstroke of every pedal stroke, I got the cramp. Once I hit the bottom of the stroke, my leg was straight enough that the cramp would go away. It was like this until we finally hit a red light and I could stretch it out. What would cause this? Insufficient fluids/eletroltes?

  2. Various things, even the experts can argue over this one. But if you were out riding 1:30 when it started, the first thing I would think would be to ensure you have been drinking enough. There is no hard and fast rule other than weight yourself before you ride and when you come back. If you've lost weight then you have not been drinking enough. Depending on how hot and humid it is, I tend to drink on average one 24 oz bottle per hour. Also the harder / hotter it is, the more you will want to make sure you are drinking a sports drink over just water.
