My temporary doctor switched me from cozaar to atacand because my blood pressure was high. After I switched, my back started hurting, especially when I sleep. The doctor thought the symptoms were similar to sciatica. I thought it might be the atacand that caused the problem but I went without atacand the problem didn't go away. I tried some of my old cozaar pills and my back problem started to go away. Is there anything known about cozaar that would say it helps back pain?

If the back pain is from an aortic dissection, the cozaar could conceivably help reduce the pain. Otherwise, it would likely be just coincidental.
I think of aortic dissection as being so painful that I'd be screaming in an emergency room instead of calmly writing this reply.
I will tend to chalk it up to a coincidence without any more anecdotal evidence from the readers out there saying that cozaar helped their sciatica.
Thanks, Kevin
