It doesn't say if the bike with the faults was the one donated by Halfords
:-)
But good to see something with a focus on the roadworthyness of bikes!
The Tayside police deserve considerable credit for their involvement in
this Bike Festival, Perth's first. Two officers with their bikes manned
a stall for long periods and patiently answered queries from adults and
children alike. I can't say how accurate or helpful their answers were,
but from what I could see on my fairly brief visit they were treating
the whole thing very seriously and enthusiastically.
Credit also to the Company of Cyclists who brought along a huge array of
bikes and similar vehicles for people to try out. I was a little
disappointed in the lack of follow-up, however. When I asked one of
those in attendance for some information on where to obtain a recumbent
tricycle, the reply was pretty vague and I felt some homework could have
done before the event.
