We are planning a trip to Costa Rica in May with the plan of moving there in a couple of years. We have a Rans recumbent tandem and wonder if we are going to find that we will be able to use it there. I have been searching the biking sites to get the lay of the land. Most are on mountain biking and sound like we couldn't do the hills considering our limitations and the bike's. Can anyone give me a preview of what we are going to find when we get there?

I've been to Costa Rica 2 times in the past 2 years and will be returning this fall and next winter. I'm doing these next trips with my mountain bike being my primary transportation. As to riding a recumbent in Costa Rica, I would say it depends a lot on the road. Most of the paved roads that we travelled had little or no shoulder for cyclists, and cars, taxis and buses there tend to drive at rather high rates of speed, even passing around blind corners. The country is wonderful, but the drivers can be scary and I plan to do all of my riding on either heavily pot-holed paved roads (helps keep car speed down) or dirt roads.
Good luck and enjoy your trip!
