I would like to start cooking food with sugar alcohols in
them, but I don't know where to buy them in the store. I did
find this sugar-free maple syrup that has them, but I'd like
more options. Any ideas where to get these things

from what I've read, I think that, often, the result is not
exactly the same as one will get from using sucrose (typical
table sugar). One can get bulk erythritol (probably the best
of the alcohol sugars for glycemic effect and GI effects) at
beyond-a-century.com. -

being identical to sugar in baking, for bulking and
sweetness. Erythritol ends up gritty, like having sand in
your cheesecake. I've seen a specially fine ground version
offered, but haven't tried it yet.Susan

shouldn't have any added ingredients.Quoted message said:

these thingsI found xylitol at a local health food store, might have
been Whole Foods. Haven't tried it yet.Glycerine/glycerol isn't exactly a sugar alcohol in spite
of the name. I found some at a small health food store, in
the cosmetic section, very cheap. I like it a lot, tastes
like strong honey, or the nectar in trumpet vine flowers,
and feels healthier to me than sugar. Haven't tried cooking
with it much.Actually after just a little glycerine I lost my taste for
regular sugar, pastas, etc and went low carb! Dunno how long
that will last. :-)
