Has anyone ever tried to convert a DH / Slalom bike to XC? I'm talking taking an Intense Tazer and
putting nice big cogs on the front (going from 1 to 2) and rear, raising the seat as high as I can
manage, cutting the bounce in the shocks significantly, and anything else I can think of. Has anyine
done this? What were your results. If I can just get the gears right, it's a nice light bike.
There's just not enough DH in my area to get enough use out of the current configuration.

I'll trade you a '96 Marin Eldridge Grade XC bike for it. 2 nice big cogs on the front (plus
granny). Large frame so the seat's pretty damn high and since it's a hardtail it cuts down on the
bounce. Much lighter than the Tazer too.Mike - how's that for a conversion.

I'm sure you can convert it. My Orange MsIsle is a Slalom/Jumps frame but I use it for XC. Main
problems I've encountered is that the bike would not handle as well as an XC bike over good/tough XC
terrain. My Orange especially sucks at climbing, I use more energy climbing on it than on my SS.
However, its great on descents, very agile. But I still love my Orange cus it looks so gorgeous.

Yeh, most DH/Slalom bikes are pretty to look at but can't climb a hill of beans. I won't have to
worry about that though. The highest hill here is about 100'. Everything else is flat with lots of
roots and ruts. Not too many rocks, either."bloocow" <[email hidden]> wrote in message
