I am considering a ride beginning in Springfield, MA and heading up to Quebec, then back down the
east coast to NYC or Phila. and then back to Springfield. My immediate question concerns potential
bike routes going north along the Connecticut River toward Quebec. Any particular recommended routes
there? The ideal road will have a partially paved shoulder, light traffic, and a comparative minimum
of climbing. Presumably I'll have to accept less than that.
I am a competent enough climber when I have to be - e.g. two trips across the Rockies, 5 days in the
Alps, and regular riding on what passes for hills in SE Wisconsin where I live. But I don't go out
looking for them and would just as soon have as less hilly a route as available.
