It was something they agreed on.
Cunego will be focusing the remain of this season on the Worlds RR in his
hometown of Verona.

The real surprise in Italy's names ofr the Olympics is the absence of
Rebellin. And Davide was training specifically for the August WC races and
the Olympics.

Or something that anyone should see, that his peak was too early in the year
to try and peak again for the Olympics. Personally, I would have given him a
ride anyway and see how he does but Ballerini is all about getting the wins
and takes each choice very seriously. It might be asking too much of this
young guy to peak again for the Olympics.

Excuse me? He has 6 months to peak a second time. And he plainly showed in
the Giro that off of his peak he's probably faster than anyone else. This
ain't going to last long. LeMond was that sort of superb climber but three
years later he was becoming a moose. Ullrich in '97 could climb like a
rocket ship but two years later he was Sausage-man.

Now, granted, Conego is a climber and I assume that the Olympic race only
has enough climbing in it to separate the real racers from the South
Africans. But if the strategy is to employ one day racers, leaving off
Davide Rebellin is disgraceful!
