Hello - I am looking at making a little investment in a new trainer. It seems that both the Tacx Fortius/ iMagic and the Computrainer are very popular amongst this crowd here. While the Fortius has gotten really got reviews in regards to its ability to make time fly by, the Computrainer and its Spinscan functionality seem to be very useful as well. Any ideas or experiences with this?

I'm sorry...but spinscan really isn't all that useful. Since the pedals are connected to each other through the crank, there's no way to separate the forces from each side. A "round" pedal stroke (as measured by spinscan) can be gotten more than one way, with some ways worse than others. Besides, a "round" pedal stroke may not be what you want anyway. Do a search on mashing vs. spinning.
I'd go for the one that gives you the most features you desire...besides spinscan, that is. 🙂
Personally, I'd lean towards the Fortius just for the ability to ride the prerecorded actual courses (the DVDs).
