Er, you must have something very specific in mind Theo, and
are being too critical of yourself, because your English is,
well it certainly passes for that of an Englishman!

What makes you think the thread is about the above
question Simon? We went off on a tangent very early on in
    this thread.

Simon must have been gottn by the dwarf early on....

Doesn't it irk you when foreigners (usually Dutch!)
apologise for their poor english, when writing perfect
colloquial english - usually better english than many of our

Thanks for the compliments guys but I think that being
humoristic/ironic and to the point is of a different level
of English. Reading and understanding isn't a problem most
off the time.( I remember my answer on Paul 'Broon' Saunders

Oke oke, I apologise for apologising. Our greatest advantage
in Holland is that foreign tv-programmes are subtitled. That
way you can hear a foreign language and see the translation.
BTW, the BBC showed the German movie 'Das Boot' tonight with
English subtitles. My favorite act is to speak English with
different foreign accents. French, Italian, German, Indian
(Dave Allen). Again BTW, don't ever watch 'allo, allo' on
German television. They ruin the whole show because
everybody speaks German, even se bwitisj ai-men, if jee nu
    what I moon.

Yes, very good. But as you say, it's probably the humour
that you have difficulty understanding. Or maybe it's the
references to early computer adventure games? Did you ever
    play any of those?

dwarf spits out mint cake because its decomposed (see
previous thread), and throws axe at you - still trying to
    steal poles and tent

    Paul

It's not difficult to understand the humor, Paul (reminds me
off the endless oneliners we did on highschool) but what
makes it difficult is that I don't know enough English words
to reply as if I was a stand-up comedian. Par Example : I
don't know the meaning of the word 'tangent' in your next
reply. I think it means 'change of direction' or 'corner',
like in mathematics the word 'tangus', but I would never
have been able to use the word myself. I think you have to
live several years in a foreign country to join these kind
of wordgames. In Dutch one single word could have several
meanings depending on the rest of the words in a sentence
and the way it is pronounced. I can 'understand' your
pictures but I can't make them myself.

BTW: I thought you were referring to a computergame starring
Gimli in Lord of the Rings. Don't play them myself, no time
    and not interested.
