Is it true that road style cranks (arms) would position the pedals closer to your frame than Mtb cranks?
I read somewhere that a guy was more comfortable on his Mtb than his racer as his pedals were seperated further and therefore matched his riding style.
Is there a noticable difference or is it only very slight? I guess considering cleat position, type of shoes and pedals used you would be comfortable on either but one style crank (not comparing gearing) may suit a rider better?

The Q factor on mtb cranks is often greater on mtb cranks because of the need to clear wider chainstays. Mtb are triples and his racer may be a double,again lower Q goes to the double.
