  1. After trawling the net for some frame calculators, I've found this one
    to be straight forward:

It would be interesting to see how its results compare to the actual
bike you use. So how about doing the test, posting the results
together with your actual frame size and an assessement of how
accurate the calculator is? You can email the results to yourself.

    Measurements

Can't comment on the accuracy cos I'll be buying a bike based upon
    these 🙂

Sorry, the fit calculator link is towards the bottom right of the

Comparing my numbers with yours, something doesn't add up, I'm guessing
that's because of different skeletal builds - are you quite slim?

Comp Fit Eddy Fit French Fit My Bike

    Seat tube range c-c 56.4 - 56.9 57.6 - 58.1 59.3 - 59.8 56.8

I sit quite low and far back compared to others, my road bike has a long
top tube, shallow seat angle and high bottom bracket, so the calculator
does a pretty good job of determining standard fit (although it makes no
    mention of the last two).
Note (as has been said before, but it's worth repeating) that the
dimensions are based on traditional geometry, so you'll have to be
careful to get the right dimensions if you're looking at compact frames,
and of course mountain bikes are a whole different thing.

Seems odd that our sternal notches and trunk measurements are so
different, even though our heights and lower halves are within 2cms
difference. I'm not slim and weigh 13st which is over weight for my
    height.

I think maybe I just have a short neck compared to you. And an extra 50
pounds (all muscle of course). :-)
