I know I can get a toe clip that clips onto my Ultegra pedals...
But would it mess up the pedals just stadning on them and riding in regular shoes?
My commute is very short, like >1 mile.

Often I take a 3 mile ride around our quiet neighborhood with my wife in the evenings. I sure don't bother putting on my cycling shoes or removing my Look pedals. I don't see any reason why you can do your 1 mile commute with pedestrian shoes & Look pedals. -

Because I don't want to walk around in shoes and cleats allday just to make it a tad easier to get to school.Thanks guys.
