When UCI Junior Worlds were held at the new ADT Event Center velodrome
in Carson, California, I watched riders using this same method to avoid
walking from the arena to their autos with a bag. The feat was made
even better by the road being a short, but steep, uphill.

In addition, when the young riders would go out for a road ride, some
would leave and reenter the velodrome without dismounting at the doors.
Going out, they would lean forward, and press on the "crash bar" to open
each of the two doors. Once out, they had to negotiate an narrow,
    S-shaped ramp.

To return, they would ride their front wheel to the wall beside the
door, lean against the perpendicular wall, and open the doors by pulling
on the handle. While it was an impressive display of "conservation of
energy", it made a mess of the walls.
