  1. Howdy.

I biked to class 4 days this week (Monday I had a sinus headache and chose to bus it) for about 60
miles total distance. Beautiful fall weather this week; wonderful time to be out on a bike. A
long-sleeved t-shirt and shorts are perfect at 7C.

I've noticed a disturbing driver behaviour. Drivers approaching a stop sign seem to ignore their
left and look to the right. Eventually they look left. They do this even when they want to turn
right. While that would make sense in places where they drive on the wrong side of the road, in
places where we drive on the right side of the road, it's just plain scary.

It's amazing the things you see when you travel at 12 miles an hour vs 35 miles an hour. If I was
seeing things correctly, I saw milk actually being delivered to a residence! I haven't seen that
    in decades.

I'm not in as good shape as I'd thought I was. By Friday, my legs were pretty well worn out.
Thankfully (no pun intended) we have a long weekend.

    Regards

    Jeff

Drivers are primarily looking for traffic to which they must yield instead of their usual rolling
stop. They're assuming you will respect 'their' right-of-way.

It also leads to finding interesting, sometimes valuable, or at least, useful items along the way.

You'll notice more. This is one I notice frequently, though. And being the defensive cyclist that I
am I will stop in the middle of the bike lane, right before I get to them and wait for them to look
left. It pisses them off a lot of the time, but hey, they should be looking left and actually
stopping their vehicle before reaching the stop sign. So maybe I inconvenience them for a moment or
two. Hopefully they'll learn to pay attention.

    Preston
