  1. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me. I've been cyclng for 3 plus years to work (10 miles each way), on a really old ridgeback tempest (which every month seems to need a service)

I am really wanting to get a more suitable bike for road riding, but because of the huge range out there - I'm really confused, and needing personal advice.

I'm not sure if I want to go down the road bike route, but something more streamlined would be good.

I'd love to hear from any of you who have a bike they love. Hopefully it will help me gain a better insight as to what to go for, and what to avoid!!

    Thanks for your help

    Joanna

  2. Kona Dr.Lisa is an excellent choice for what it sounds like you are looking for.

  3. Joanna, you might also want to post your question in the "Bike Buying Advice" sub forum. That's not a gender specific sub forum and it gets a bit more attention.

  4. The high price of gas. Global warming. Health and fitness. Fun. There are a lot of good reasons for considering bike commuting as an alternative to your car or even mass transit. To get started, you'll want to consider the bike itself plus a variety of gear options that range from essential to convenient. Here are the things our bike experts put at the top of the.

    1. Be prepared for rain. Unless you live in the desert, always carry waterproof, breathable layers.
    2. Be ready for flats. Always carry a spare inner tube, a patch kit and a pump or CO2 cylinder.
    3. Always wear a bicycle helmet when you ride.
