I currently commute about 20 miles a day (100 miles a week) I use a Cannondale bad boy 2010. I am looking to upgrade to a better bike I think a road bike would be the best bet I am looking to spend about £2000. I don't know much about road bikes so any advice on which models I should be looking at would be appreciated. My current commute has a couple of steep hills but nothing too strenuous. Should I be looking at a road bike or would a hybrid still do the job?

I don't understand how you feel that either a Hybrid or Road bike would be better for your commute ...
[LIST] Unless your BAD BOY is a Single Speed variant, I would classify it as a Hybrid. Are you hoping to achieve a different riding position?
Different gear range?
Something else?

for 1/2 your budget you could get a touring bike with the rack already installed; http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/road/touring/520/520# and then you could add fenders, a commuting beast ! if you fancy STI levers then that would be another nice upgrade,
