  1. Cycling through Covent Garden area today I noticed new yellow signs put
up by the police on all the traffic lights and junctions saying
something to the effect of "Due to community pressure police are taking
action against cyclists in this area who disobey traffic laws" It then
goes on to note a £30 FPN if caught.

And here we thought it had always been the police's job to enforce the
law. Can a cyclist who's stopped for running a red light now sue if
there wasn't a sign warning him about it?

Is there a sign saying when you leave the area? Like leaving a 30MPH
speed limit or one of those "thank you for driving safely" signs you
get on the way out of villages.

Of course, it would be nice if the sign substituted the word 'cyclists'
    with 'people'.
