I got my bike back from the LBS this afternoon and it was getting late, i had less than an hour of light left, i wasn't going to go for a ride but i couldn't resist the temptation.
I haven't been on it for a few days and my legs were feeling very fresh. I went on my usual route to work, which is about 10k round trip. It's hardly what you'd call a hard ride but along the way there is a nice steady climb about 1k long.
As this was a test for the bike and not for me, i took it fairly easy. I spent the first half of the climb just spinning up the climb, then i stood up and click it up a gear. All was normal, until i sat back down again and shifted down a gear. Something felt off, it felt like my tyre was rubbing. I had a feeling something was holding me back, like the brakes. It felt that strange i got off and checked over my bike, just before the top of the climb, thinking the LBS might have forgotten something. Everything was fine so i took off again.
It had nothing to do with my AT levels because i wasn't anywhere near it. I wouldn't have been over 160bpm and i was feeling really good. I hope to god that i was nowhere near fatigued, i'd been on the bike for about 4 and a half minutes.
Can anyone break it down for me, so i can understand what just happened? When i stopped i didn't feel tired and when i got back on the bike there wasn't enough of a climb to feel it again...
It's concerning because i wasn't challenging my fitness levels in anyway. I could have sang a song if i wanted to.
