just biked today for the first time @ the E center in longwood, FL. It was awesome. Lots of roots and narrow paths. I must also add it was with my new trek 4300. My question is what is the best way to clean the bike after hard dirt riding, mud too. Cleaning chain and all components?

For the chain, using one of those chain cleaner things with automotive degreaser works great. Just don't forget to dry it after washing the degreaser off with water, otherwise it might start to show some surface rust and look bad. I also clean the cassette and chainrings with a toothbrush and degreaser, but I like things to be shiny. 🙂
As for the rest of the bike, there are some things that don't react kindly to high pressure water sprays, so the safest option is to use a damp towel or something.
