I have noticed an increase in road rage towards me (and other cyclists I have been riding with) by motorist in the lead up and following Christmas. I have been spat at, honked at, yelled at, had things thrown at me, and general aggressive driving. These sorts of things do not happen to me as frequently, and I can say that there is nothing that I have done differently in the lead up to Christmas.
Other cyclists I have spoken to have reported similar things - and most have a storey or two of motorists cutting them off.

Anyone else have a "Christmas cheer" experience?
Funny you mention it, but our Christmas morning group ride here in St. George was punctuated by two incidents of aggression toward us on the road. One SUV that laid on the horn and drove into us was full of people in Sunday dress, so they must have been on the way to church. How ironic. Let's kill some "sicklists" on the way to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace. 🙄
We don't flip anyone off, though, no matter how bad it gets. But if anyone wants to pull over and throw, we're a pretty big, healthy group. It definitely gets worse around the holidays...your observation is correct.

I have had people try to hit me by opening car doors, throwing stuff, etc. They never want to pull over. People's personalities really change when they are in a 5k lb vehicle...One of these days I will catch one at a red light and then they will find out they messed with the wrong cyclist.
