  1. Hi fellow runners!
Here is a article i would like to share with you all. Its about
    ChiRunning.
For those that have never heard of ChiRunning, well read on and don't
hesitate to check out www.chirunning.com, the official website.
ChiRunning is a great way to run and for all ages, abilities and
    levels.
I have studied and progressed over the last two years, and chirunning
for me has become a much more easier and effortless way to run.
    Enjoy!

Run like the wind, without the pain...

Maybe you're reading this article because of the title...Running without
the pain. Is this really possible?
Is there really a way to be able to run without suffering from
injuries, or muscle fatigue caused by the continual pounding of your
legs on the roads, or the oscillating jarring of the foot/heel strike
causing injuries to the ligaments, tendons and joints, due to the
    contact with the ground?
Can running be a fun and pain free experience in sport?
    The answer is yes.
A new revolutionary running method, created by Danny Dreyer in 1997,
is sweeping with success the United States, Europe, as well as other
    countries.
    This method is called ChiRunning.

What is Chi Running all about?

Danny Dreyer, a veteran of ultra marathons and endurance running since
35 years, with an impressive track record of running achievements,
created this method after studying and applying certain principles of
    T'ai Chi to running.

T'ai Chi is a martial art which focuses on going with the flow of
energy, by being relaxed and aligned with it.
But, don't worry; you don't have to study T'ai Chi in order to learn
    ChiRunning
In fact ChiRunning is within the reach of all runners, from beginners,
seasoned runners through too many top athletes who have adapted
    ChiRunning as their running form.

The base of ChiRunning comes from the one of the corner stones of T'ai
Chi, which is the principle of "needle in cotton".
ChiRunning takes this principle and bases its technique on postural
    alignment combined with muscular relaxation.
This concept consists of aligning your body, which represents the
"needle" and your relaxing your peripherals (arms and legs) which
    represent the "cotton".

    So how does it work?

ChiRunning combines the simple application of the laws of T'ai Chi,
that are backed up by the laws of physics, and for a result, you have
energy efficient, injury free bio-mechanically correct running.
With this principle, it is possible to run in a way that is powerful,
    yet fluid.

It also is based on two main themes: Injury Prevention and Energy
    Efficiency.
Injury Prevention: In the method of ChiRuning, the runner is letting
his or her legs land under their center of mass.
The center of mass is behind the aplomb of the body.
Strange way to run, you may say, but when you consider that every time
you let your legs land in front of your center of mass, you are
sending an enormous mass of shock through the body, starting with the
feet and legs. Imagine the damage to the tissues, joints, ligaments
that are caused by this shock, every time your one of your legs land
    out in front of you.
Now imagine your legs momentarily landing underneath you, on the
middle of the sole of the foot, before flowing out behind you, as
gravity pulls you forward. Can you imagine the difference? The
reduction in impact is almost 100% less.
Energy Efficiency: When your body is aligned, relaxed and tilted
forward, gravity pulls you along. By having your muscles relaxed, and
by going along with the laws of nature, the result is in an enormous
reduction in muscle usage and fatigue.

So if you could run without injuries, and conserve energy, or keep
running "the traditional way" and continue falling victim to injuries,
and feel wasted for days on end every time you finish a run, which
    would you rather choose?

Thousands of runners; beginners, slow runners, fast runners, injured
runners, pro runners and triathletes have benefited from this
revolutionary way of running. They are all enjoying a better running
style and also benefiting from the more profound discovery of not only
themselves, but also a more centered and mindful approach to life.

    So does it really work?

Yes. All the runners, triathletes in Australia to whom I have
introduced the principles of ChiRunning now run with more ease, have
improved their running technique and running times and really started
to enjoy the process of running. But don't take my word for it, learn
more about it and see for yourself. After all, all you have to lose is
those injuries and the muscle fatigue that you have put up with until
    now...

***A free information meeting about ChiRunning will be held Wednesday,
26 September, 2007 at 6.45pm at EJ WARD community center, at 189
Underwood st , Paddington. Times and dates of free workshops will be
annonced at the meeting. All welcome!***

coach with 28 years of running experience, based in Sydney.
After having had his C5 and C6 cervicals smashed to pieces, in a Rugby
match and being told he couldn't run again, he proved the physicians
wrong and came back stronger than before, with ChiRunning becoming an
important focus in his everyday life.
