  1. Has anyone heard a Chinese proverb that says something like
"2/3 of your stomach is for you and the other 1/3 is for
your doctor?" It was described to me once and essentially
means that overeating is not good for your health. I've got
a young Chinese coworker who's telling me I'm full of it, so
I'm trying to trace it back to a reputable source. Anyone?

  2. Hi Bill,

I try to think of the Chinese saying to match ur desc...
There's a saying in Chinese about eating just enough.
Literally interpreted it means "when eating, eat till 70%
full". I'm not sure of one referring to doctor...maybe
someone else have a better reply to that...

but there's another saying abt appropriate diet. it goes sth
like this (again literally interpreted): during morning, eat
well during noon, eat just enough during night, eat less

Well, Maimonides (the Rabbi/physician) did say that more
ppl die from the effects of overeating than undereating.
But many Jewish ppl wouldn't know that either. So you might
be right. I wouldn't be surprised. It's a good rule of
    thumb, actually.
