Chinese Garlic sauce

  1. Sugar is often added to sauces in chinese resturants and just as often the
    sauce is thickened with corn starch which has the same diabetic result as
    sugar. Not to forget that the rice also has the same effect. If one
    looks at the garlic sauce container it is doubtful it has added sugar.
    Most likely the most carbohydrates you had in that meal were from the rice
    which quickly raised your glucose level. In diabetes just eating one meal
    doesn't account for glucose being high for days, more likely is a low
    level infection or medication taken for other reasons. You can ask at a
    chinese resturant that no sugar or corn starch be added to sauces and
    forget the rice and get extra tofu and vegetables in it's place.

    mixed vegetables with garlic sauce and steamed rice . The curry was very
    sweet probably on account of garic sauce and my BG shot up from 106
    fasting to 144 and and took several days to return to normal ."

    Tofu and soy are not real foods.

    Good advise . Pl suggest some vegetable protien as I am
    a vegetearian , eat eggs and no meat ,poultry and sea food .
