Yeah quite I can't understand why so many of the haters get their panties in a wad bout any defence of LA. Most of us so called LA lovers have not claimed that we believe he's innocent. Just that we hope he is and given that the hard evidence against him seems distinctly lacking we're withholding judgement. The problem I have is with the process. Goverments and govt bodies have a duty to the highest standards. Not just in rooting out and punishing wrong doers but in doing it right.

Regardless of whether LA has been bad USADA has not done this right. Even the US justice systems seems to have doubts and have abandoned their case against him.

Lining up a bunch of proven liars and cheats who you've essentially blackmailed to testify against someone does not make what you are doing right.

The biggest fault lies in the whole governance of cycling worldwide and how it is managed. Politics, publicity, empire building and grandstanding etc. appears to take precedence over doing the right thing in the sport and for the sport.

My concern is that nothing will change and the small brained in charge will continue in denial of all that is wrong. They criticise the cyclists but actually the dopers are actually the thin end of a very large wedge.

The judges view with regard to the evidence presented by USADA is simply that. A view.

You've conceded that it wasn't within the district court's jurisdiction to consider the quality of the evidence against Armstrong.
The district court's jurisdiction in this matter was to adjudicate upon whether or not USADA retained the right to pursue their case against Armstrong, as appealed by Armstrong.

On that matter the judge's view was that the USADA were within their rights and Armstrong's appeal was rejected by the district court.

If the evidence is as poor as some here suggest, why isn't Armstrong going to defend the charge that he cheated and doped?

That's why Armstrong asked his attorney to request a 30 day extension from USADA so that he could contest the USADA case as recently as 5 weeks ago - because he's moved on to other things as you claim?

he may very well have out-grown cycling. but his actions and statements leading up to his acquiescence suggest he needed some great motivation to leave it behind--like the fear of having all his dirty laundry being aired out in public

True the threat of criminal punishment was a possibility... maybe you missed that... but everyone else knew it. We all make decisions... Lance made his. Everyone likes time when considering options.

I don't know any non-cyclist that can name even one cyclist other than Lance. But you are right... the sport will certainly out live any [and every] cyclist. Lance gave the sport a golden era... and of course there might be other such popular era's in the sport. Legal cheating is your own definition. A meaningless definition nonetheless.

I don't know Armstrong's lawyer as it happens.
I read that 5 weeks ago, at the behest of his client, he asked for a 30-day extension to USADA case.

As you say Armstrong shied away from the contesting the case in the end.
I can empathise with your being upset.

This is the beauty of sport, the sport continues and moves on.

I'm glad to say that the sport in terms of popularity appears to be gaining each year.
The volume of people at roadside in races on the continent is increasing, as is television coverage too.
Races such as the Tour Down Under - which are new relative to the established European races - are growing in popularity too.
