1. Hi all,

I hope everyone is well. First off, I'd like to apologise for my ignorance with regards to cycling as a profession and as a passionate hobby. Whilst I do cycle, I am not a self-confessed bike god as some of you are!!!

I won't beat around the bush with boring details, but a few months ago a friend of mine's cousin was involved in a high profile case in which the NHS refused treatment for a vicious kind of cancer.

The two of us now want to complete a cycle in order to raise awareness and cash for similar patients (cancer research). We have sat down and planned a route, and it amounts to around 3,500 miles.

We'd like to do it in 40-50 days. This averages out to be riding for 70-75 miles a day. The roads themselves obviously vary and we will be starting in 9 months time.

    1. Does this seem like a realistic target? Can we push the boundaries more?

    2. Can you please point me in the direction of training programmes and things to take into account when training?

    3. Any advice or pointers we should take into account?

It might be important to point out we are/have been professional athletes and strong guys.

Thanks a lot for any advice in advance!
