Hi all new to this but in need. My husband has an old black diamond Apex mountain bike and I wish to change the stem on it for a smaller one (probs by 1inch or so). Problem being is i think it is one of the old types.. all in one. Similarly my bike a Kona Lava Dome Race light also has the same probs and requires a much smaller stem as Im only 5'2. Any suggestions for both would be great.😕
Thanks for that. Any idea of a good converter and stem that would do the job. Think i want to keep the uptilted angle for the Diamond Back , but switch to a flat/level stem for the Kona Cheers Sue

you can either buy a new quill stem
OR get a quill/ahead converter and use an ahead stem [this way you'll have more choice of stems]
I want to upgrade my forks to modern suspension items, the old fork steerer was threaded which is probably irrelevant as I guess this is only to attach the forks to the handle bar stem. Basically how do I and can I adapt my bike to accept modern unthreaded steerer tubes? I have heard of A head converters but I am confused with some descriptions I've read, will an A head converter enable me to fit modern unthreaded forks to me old bike.
