Hi guys,i used to train for track events such as sprints, which meant time in the gym and roller workouts etc and doing the least amount of road i could get away with.
My problem is i quit the track acouple of yrs ago and stopped cycling altogether.Well now ive purchased a Mountain Bike and would like to concentrate on doing some XC racing next season. How do i go about training, ive been trying to do road Kms but my legs are killing,i was a woeful climber too,but feel the small climbs on my training route are improving (slowly).
You see guys like Marty Northstein go from Olympic Sprint Champ to a roadie.
Whats the answers, persaverance and continue to do the Kms???

Also the training that you will do with have to reflect your strengths; try to become a RR sprinter, rather than TTer or climber.
This one is good too, as it talks about why a track sprinter may not make a good road rider and vice versa...
