My chain glides on the sixth speed chain when cycling uphill but stays on the same chain..so the pedal pops and i lose control of my cycling rhythm. Is that normal for the chain to glide on the ring when there is heavy pressure on it?

A chain slipping on a sprocket is usually a sign of wear. Either on chain, sprocket or a little of both.
Chain wear can be measured, and a trained eye can have some success in judging the degree of wear on a sprocket. But if the parts are well worn it's often simpler to replace both chain and cassette/freewheel. Chains and sprockets wear together, and sometimes replacing just the one won't help, regardless what tools and judgement tells you.
