  1. Hi everyone,
I am in the possibility of buying a second-hand Cervelo P2C bike (model 2009) with Mavic Cosmic Carbone SLR wheelset and SRAM Force group (completed with a Profile Design aerobar) for a little over 2000 euro (or about 1800 pounds). The bike is about two years old and seems to be very well maintained. Anyone have an idea whether or not this is a good deal ?

    Kind regards,
    Thomas.

  2. I can't find that the P2C was manufactured in 2009. I believe that the only year that they offered this bike was in 2008. I may be wrong but that is what my research is telling me. The SRAM Force was not offered as a built up bike but they did offer a bare frame that could be built up as the buyer saw fit. This is a seat of the pants comparison, but the Force is SRAM's 2nd tier group set, right after SRAM Red. Ultegra is Shimano's 2nd tier group set right after Dura Ace. In 2008, the P2C with Ultegra had an MSRP of 1750 euro.

In answering your question, all I can give is my opinion. I don't think that it is a good deal because bicycles do not generally increase in value over time unless it is a very rare bicycle or one that has some historical significance. This Cervelo is not one of these. It also has a SRAM group set on it, which, IMHO does nothing to add value to the bike. (As I stated, all that I can do is give you my opinion and I personally do not like SRAM. My apologies to all of the SRAM fans out there.)

  3. Hi kdelong,
    thanks for your advice.

The frame could indeed be a 2008 frame (the bike was bought early 2009. The seller has the invoice to prove it). He did indeed seem to have build the bike himself. Apart from the frame/fork combination, there is no other component on the bike that came with an 'off-the-shelf' P2C. I was thinking that the wheelset would somehow justify the price because it seems to be a very good set.

I'm going to try and get some more advice from different people before deciding. Thanks again for your input.

    Kind regards,
    T.
