I'm not an avid biker, in fact I have not ridden a bicycle in years. But I've been thinking of getting a bike for a while. I was in a Goodwill thrift store the other day and I spotted a bike that looked a class above the usual Huffys and Schwinns I see in there. It was a Centurion Executive. It has a 'Centurion Bicycle Works' badge on the front and an 'Ultra-lightweight' decal. It has drop-handlebars, 27in wheels and Suntour GT7 gears. Anyone know anything about this bike? I believe its a Japanese copy of a French bike. It's in excellent shape apart from paint chipping and needing new tires. Is it worth anything? I paid $12.50 for it!

I owned two Centurians back in the late sixties or seventies. I do not remember the model, but I consider them among the best bikes I ever owned. They would be worth fixing up and riding as introcuctory bikes to some one like yourself who has not ridden for a good many years.

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure this bike is that old. How could I tell? I would guess its from the early 80's. The bicycle store that originally sold it is still in town (decal on frame).
Note that this bike is a CENTURION not CENTURIAN
Its also an EXECUTIVE model
Does 'SunTour' still exist, I don't see those components on any modern bike?

Centurians were availale as everythign from top end to junk The 27" wheels indicate lower tier, but $12 is hard to beat if it fits and fits your pistol.Clean it up and ride it,but don't pour alot into upgrades.
