Cateye Powermeter?

There were some rumblings about this on cyclingnews.com a while back. It was around Interbike time. I also heard from my local bike shop guys that this was in the works. The truth is that the SRM patent is supposed to run out at the end of this calendar year. Products could be waiting in the wings to come in on this type of product, but we aren't going to be shown them until after the patent runs out.

About three years ago I read in a Swedish magazine that Cateye and ABB were working together on a powermeter, I think it even said something about a campagnolo bottom bracket. I´m not sure of how patents work but the SRM patent cannot possibly involve anything else than a strain gauge solution? How reliable is the info that their patent runs out at the end of this year?
Considering Cateyes knowledge in cycling computers and ABBs industrial knowledge, it would be an interesting product...
