Carrera Banshee rear shock upgrade

I'm trying to prolong the life of 'er indoors' mount which is a Carrera Banshee from Halfords. The main problem is the rear shock which seems to be designed to induce pedal bob. Has anyone out there successfully upgraded the shock on this model? Cheers, Fred
