I bought a road bike used with about 300 miles on it and have put about 250 miles on it myself. I started getting an odd sound from the front end about 100 miles ago. I have it narrowed down between the headset or the carbon fork. I plan tearing into it next week sometime. My question is what does "Integrated or Non-Integrated head tubes mean and what is a retention device?" I have encounted this while shopping for a new fork. Thanks for looking.

I'm going to try this link. Bear with me if it doesn't work, it's my first try www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=68
